About Us

A shopping trip around-the-world like no other;
a feel good buying experience empowering lives!

Group of Volunteers at One World Goods.jpgGet out of the big box and step into our not-for-profit shop -- it’s full of unique, beautifully handmade and sustainably produced items. Picking up something from the shelf of One World Goods is like reaching across the globe to the hands of the grower or artisan who sent it forth. Buying that coffee, special gift, fashion accessory, or enriching home decor means the person who produced it gets a fair share of your purchasing dollar.

We are a person-to-person marketplace with new items arriving weekly, representing artisans and growers in over 50 countries including the U.S.

In our store you’ll find:

  • Bags made in Guatemala with the signature of the artisan who made it attached.
  • Family produced Oriental Rugs
  • Furniture and accessories made from salvaged materials
  • Semi-precious stones set in sterling silver jewelry
  • Over 90 volunteers who staff our store with a commitment to provide a marketplace for producers whose wares may not otherwise reach the western market.

Every item you’ll see at One World Goods has a person and a story behind it. With creativity and skill, disadvantaged workers have transformed nature’s bounties or humanity’s discards into delightful and useful things that you’ll treasure or give with pride, all while knowing that you’re helping folks provide for themselves with dignity. It’s Fair Trade: goods from the world that do good for the world.

A quick history of One World Goods

1987 A small group of churchwomen with a desire to aid artisans living in impoverished areas of the world organized sales of fair trade goods at local churches and schools. Merchandise was stored at a local home and carted to sales in their cars.

1991 Sales were going well so the decision was made to open a brick & mortar location in Fairport, NY.

1994 One World Goods was established as a not-for-profit 501-C-3 Corporation in the State of New York with an all-volunteer Board of Directors.

1997 One World Goods moved to Pittsford Plaza and in the first year sales increased by 95%.

2007 The store was completely renovated.
